    The Future's Bright, the Future's........ DERBY'S U18S

Are we about to benefit from the spending on the academy?

Our U18s have had a fantastic season finishing above the likes of Man City, Liverpool and Man utd and then thrashing an Arsenal team that won 20 of their 22 games in the South league.

Are these teams playing their best youngsters or have they already been loaned out?

It would be nice to think that 3 or 4 could make the jump to the first team in the coming years.

I think we need to consider the collective future of these players as a unit: do they stay together or will one or two leave. Certain talented individuals could maybe make 30 million a week by leaving.

Perhaps the only sure fire way to know for certain is to have a poll of all the team members and then, if some vote to get a transfer, the others can refuse to accept the choice by claiming it was advisory only and in any event naughty agents had been lying about how much wage they could command.

Then, by the end of the 3021-22 season our team will have self destructed and be at the foot of the league.

I didn't go to the match but just watched the complete game on Rams player. Very impressed and looks like there will be a few players making the jump very quickly. It's looking like this club is going in a very positive direction, well done to all!

Bogle was in the 18s and 23s last season and look what he's done.

Sibley and Buchanan have had 1st team match day squad selection this season. I think we might see them closer to the 1sts more often next season. Sibley will be 18 in December. Buchanan turned 18 early March. If you're good enough you're old enough.

We've seen a few others from the 18s and 23s around the first team as well.

Elsnik is another who may nake the step up. What has a season on loan at Coventry done for Thomas?

How many of "our own" will we see make the step up to the senior squad. One thing is certain, the U23s will be a very young side next season based on the bulk of this season's 18s who will also be involved in what is essentially the Champions League for U19s.

U23s also had a good season. Avoided relegation on the last day last season. Comfortably midtable this.

Sibley and Whittaker have been called up the England U18s, well done lads.
