They would like to have Gayle. Murphy was very poor yesterday and I dont think they want him. I would swap Gayle and Rondon permanently.
WBA have Gayle and Murphy on loan, why not a direct swap for both.?

Gayle's done more than enough to warrant being part of a fair swap, like for like.
It's trying to do deals like this that causes our problems...
We have a player here available for £16.5m who wants to play for us...
It was not paying the £16.5 m that lost us 3 months of his services...
He had no pre-season as west Brom knew he would not be playing for them....
Meanwhile Gayle played in all our friendlies and joined them match fit...
Last year's loan fee for Rondon is money spunked away...
We need to stop phucking around and sign a good player, for a reasonable fee and get on with sorting our squad and our manager out ready for next season.
We bought Gayle as a £10m championship striker...
He is still that player...
Prices may have increased, but he is not in the same league as Rondon.
I think last seasons loan fee for Rondon was money well spent.
It gave us a massive insight into how he would perform, so we actually know what we're getting if we do buy him. And if we didn't buy him then he's more than repaid any loan fee.
A win win when you consider that W.B.A fans (in the main) were happy to see him gone and prefer Gayle hands down, it seems.
Rondon is a heavy set player. He might have 2 years left in him at the top, so paying over the odds should not be an option.
A straight swap for Gayle seems a fair trade.
Absolute bollix..
.
We paid £3m after dragging our heels when the lad could have been signed and settled.
The manager wanted him, the lad wanted to come. But yet again... the club didn't trust the manager's judgement and we wasted 3 months and we still don't own the player...
It was a total farce and it cannot be defended...
End of.
The facts are that Rondon wants to stay and anyone at, or who supports, the club and understands football wants him to stay. Also Gayle has had a phenomenal season at WBA and there will be demand from PL clubs for him. I don't see the difficulty in doing the 2 deals.
If the manager was trusted he would have been ours last season for 16.5m.He is worth more than that in his season's performances for us.
I just cant see fatty paying 16.5m after already paying a loan fee of 3m.If it's a swap with Gayle then maybe so.If not and it's a cash deal well I think we have seen the last of Rondon.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but the reality is, this was the better realistic deal.
If we'd bought him outright at the time and he flopped, many would've been screaming that the club was nuts to splash that kind of money out on a player that wasn't scoring.
Imagine if we'd bought Kenedy when many fans wanted him bought.
We got the better deal and so did W.B.A.
Now we have the option to do a full time deal and it depends as much on what W.B.A want to deal with as much as it does for us to be pushed into a deal.
I want Rondon but I want him at a fair price, not a ramped up one.
If we get that with his age, then great.
