    Oakwell capacity, 23, 287

Given that Rotherham and Doncaster Rovers have respectively 12,240 and 15,000 capacity stadiums why do Barnsley need such a large stadium. Whenever see match day pictures Oakwell always seems half empty. Accepting that your gates are quite good for a 75,000 town at 12,000 it must be soul destroying for the players to play in front of a half empty stadium. One person in six of the townspeople seems a good turn out but nevertheless ? Oakwell’s one of the more generous grounds for away fans, good job eh ?

Biggest mistakes for me was the two tier East stand and the north stand with a 6k capacity. A one tier east (with the option to add another tier at a future time, like Cardiff did) and a 4k north would have been adequate and a new west stand(or a total renovation of said stand). A total capacity of around 18k would have been much better option IMHO.

why the east stand is 3quarters full most games the north stand was built with the prem in mind with the opion to build an upper tier if the big time ever came back.
the big problem was not filling the corners in
the west stands problem is we cant build a bigger stand as it cannot be higher than it is now because of the houses behind.
