If our clubs transfer activity in the current ongoing window does not pick up a gear, then there's a fair chance that our half empty bus will be filling up pretty quickly next season min, with not very much to smile about.

But again great show from the young loons and they must be over the fkn moon right now.

    Well done boys

Well done Liam McGarry. Nae sure of the co-coaches name.

I've seen the team play at Balgownie and they were pretty decent for ones so young.

I have problems with the system in place via Project Brave and whilst very happy that the young lads have done so well, it certainly doesn't alter my view - in fact, perhaps strengthens it - that too much emphasis is placed on winning at this age level as opposed to developing their talents and skills.

I know this is England but the win at all cost mentality is just as prevalent in Scotland. Does anybody have any first-hand experience of youth football in mainland Europe that can add to the debate?

I was in the club shop on Saturday and there was an Aberdeen youth coach standing talking to someone he knew.

I’m not sure what age level he coaches but he was going on about how poor a season they just had but thought the team would be better this season because they will be bigger now they are all a year older.

I’m sure there is an element of truth in what he was saying but I’m not sure how much you improve as a football player if you get bigger.

Aye right enough Rico just because your are getting taller it does not automatically mean you are getting better as a football player (Donkey Cosgrove for example) I will just leave that there

you DONT improve but at that age level, size IS important and - IMO - coaches will play the bigger kids at the expense of the smaller kids because of the desire to win. It would be very difficult to assess a coach's impact over a ten year period so they want instant success as this reflects well on them.
