    No trips to Dundee

I guess we have to say well done St Mirren.

    Ahh that was enjoyable.

Get it right up Dundee United and their arrogant, above their station, loud mouthed supporters, plus the 'impartial' pundits on Radio Scotland who were desperate for them to win today and get "back to where they belong". Even that clown Beaton doing everything he could to assist them they still couldn't get over the line and managed to miss four penalties in the shootout.

Damn right I'll be saying well done to St.Mirren for keeping them down for yet another season. For our point of view it's better to have the weaker club/side in the top flight and not United who would have the potential to spend bigger.

    Crash and burn United.

That has to be two of the worst games I've watched in a while. Absolutely no guile from both sides at all. I know it's a nerve shredding tie but that was pure purgatory. And that penalty shootout just about summed it up.

Thats my overriding take on it.

Definitely. We can take nothing for granted but with Accies, Livingston, St Mirren, Ross County and St Johnstone in the division there are five opponents of very modest means, even allowing for County getting a bit on top from their owners.

It also goes to show that while having money is an advantage, until you have pots and pots more of it than your competition, it is not necessarily decisive. United 'should' be in the top-flight while Dunfermline, Thistle and Falkirk - and even Morton, probably - will look down on the likes of Accies and Livi despite their performances long not matching their 'status'.

When thinking about it, you wonder if this summer could be worth a bit of a gamble - relatively speaking - on the first team budget. You would hope that even if investment goes wrong we would still not really be in serious threat of finishing in the bottom two given who else is there...and of those above us, Killie will surely come back a bit and Hearts have been awful for months.

Beyond that, we know that we have money to come - Kipre and Moult, even if he has not set on the heather on fire, will probably bring in legacy fees at some point while Turnbull is a walking financial guarantee in the middle of the park.

Of course you need to remember that you can never count on the cups and league success, ie third, hardly brings untold riches. But we seem to have a bit of a safety net, on and off the pitch, for once and being a little bolder than usual might be worth the risk.
