Charlton are promoted to the Championship after beating Sunderland in the play-off final at Wembley.

This is a massive achievement for a team and gaffer Lee Bowyer who have been written off so many times this season in triumphing against all odds. It also vindicated the owner's running of the club and decision to extend Lee's contract in the first place when many dissenting fans were saying he wouldn't succeed.

Charlton players scored all 3 goals in this contest, the first being a bizarre own goals from a backpass to Dillon Phillips by Naby Sarr on 5 minutes.

However Ben Purrington made amends for that when he levelled matters on 35 minutes.

With seconds remaining of the second half and with extra time imminent, Patrick Bauer bundled home the winning goal on 95 minutes ensuring the Add1cks go up to the Championship and Sunderland, my comiserations to them, stay in League 1.

But heartfelt congratulaions to the Charlton players, Manager and staff and Owner tonight and see you in the Championship next season.
