Nae really hard to be the pride of Garioch when you are up against Newmachar United for the title of POG

I felt sorry for the snaploo driver fae Pitcaple whose windies were smashed by a vigilante mob who identified the hoose occupied by the Garioch Gritter.

Last night's results in two wholly-meaningless competitions:

    North of Scotland Cup
    Brora Rangers 6-0 Wick Academy
    Clachnacuddin 2-1 Ross County
    Rothes 1-5 Fort William

Slightly more-meaningful (but a poor tourney overall without the Maroons) Aberdeenshire Cup
    Buckie Thistle 5-1 Turriff United
    Huntly 1-2 Formartine United
    Fraserburgh 2-0 Inverurie Loco Works
    Aberdeen 6-1 Banks o' Dee

Aberdeenshire Cup is ridiculously undervalued by the media, by us the fans and even by the club.

It should be one of the highlights in any Dons fans season. Remember your roots, know your history.

If you know your Highland League at all, the most-mourned of the former competitions is the Qualifying Cup, chucked out to satisfy the desire to allow everybody a shottie at the Scottish Cup, with farcical matches taking place when we're hardly into the season, and the main players having to play ties in December. The Q Cup allowed the four semi-finalists in to the national tournament, and that was a fair incentive, but the finals were the showpiece of the season, even if they were played in October/November. The last time I saw Keith win it in 02-03 at Harlot Park, we should have gone 0-3 down to Sevcove just after half time, but one of their over-paid leaden-footed fish gutters missed an open goal. We went on to equalise (a Kenny McKenzie screamer at the Chuff-Chuff End) and win it in extra time.

I used to attend finals even if the Maroons didn't make it that far. Proper Mannies' blood and snotters fitba, disposed of by corporate-leaning ****s with no idea about the game.

If the Broch hadn't beaten us at PRP in the very last Q Cup final in 2006, we'd have completed the treble that season.

Only the League, League Cup and pointless Aberdeenshire Shield in the cabinet at the end of 06-07, before the sugar daddies and their playthings ****ed it all up.
