I was just talking about this earlier. We have a fine recent tradition of signing good strikers and making them bad. 😂

I'd be amazed if he wasn't!

I agree with offshore here, we should be aiming for someone better than Deniz. Ideally someone to at least challenge Benji for the number 1 spot instead of someone as back up.

This is where I'm at. I really didn't enjoy watching us last season, on telly or live, and I'm not afraid to criticize Robbie for our style. If he left is for a multi million pound job tomorrow I would be saying based on what I saw during his time at United he's not a good coach.
He might surprise yet me and get us playing good football. I hope so. Results and good football is possible at this level. Last season we didn't play with a fluid style, gave the ball back to the opposition endlessly and punted it long far too often when a little patience and poise was needed. With less resources Ian McCall had Ayr playing much better football and got better results until squad depth and injuries took its toll.

Whether we sign Shankland or not we need to change the way we play and I don't think Robbie can do that, or maybe he just doesn't want to. His obsession with 4231 and an inability to coach players how to be calm in possession could hold us back yet again.

Don’t disagree but I do wonder how much achieving all your wishes would cost? No doubt several times our budget!
Your example says you’d want Mcall back? Do you really mean that?

Cheers. I really hate being negative when I want to be positive. I think hes a good manager and I'm desperate for him to take us up but he needs to coach the players how to play football not panic ball. I think we will have enough to win the league assuming we address the positions necessary but we could be so much better.

Different game, probably not relevant but if you saw Japan women last night, magnificent in possession. Robbed actually. But they would have us running round like toddlers.

No what I'm saying is a coach with a lower budget had his team playing great football AND getting results until injuries and squad depth took its toll. I'm not happy with our style and lack of fluidity.

No agenda in the question Terry but do or you or anyone else have a theory about why that is?

Interesting that your example of a good team got knocked out of the world cup in that match. 🤔
