Read that (apparently) Forrest on a pre-contract is a done deal. I'll reserve judgement on both the validity of this rumour and whether he'd actually be a good signing or not....

The laddie fae ayr or the chunt wi nae neck?
The Ayr lad.
Powers and Freeman signed, Chalmers away to arbroath on loan
I don’t know anything about football finance but would seems too expensive to insure every player. The insurance company has to make a profit on the premiums.
Would make more sense in theory to be just protecting the loss you can’t afford. Eg long term loss of a shanks or appere high value player
Btw harsh to put Booth and Aird with the likes of Lyng. Some of the worse csaba signings were nowhere near the standard required. So bad!
It’s compulsory to insure each player. They cannot step foot on a pitch without it.
As I said cover will vary. For a young player with no previous injury history the premium would be relatively low vs the potential loss. Wardrop has now been out for 12 months. So say he’s on a 2 year contract on £50k a year, it would be madness not to insure against ACLs, leg breaks etc. If he’s got any sense he’ll also have personal insurance to cover loss of earnings from appearances etc.
Of course insurance company has to make money from premiums but not from each client. It’s a numbers game. Think of your own insurance; car, home, holiday, mobile phone etc. The monthly premium you pay is nowhere near the amount they pay out on a claim.
Re Aird and Booth it might be harsh from a playing perspective but both were paid off with a year left on their contracts (in Aird’s case we also paid him to play at QOS for 5 months). Both would’ve been higher earners than Wardrop.
