Lots of theories doing the rounds from India fans on the Guardian cricket message board as to why they didn't give it a better go in the last 10 overs

Wanting Pakistan out of the tournament is one as we all know they don't particularly care for one another .


DS Dhoni massaging his stats and keeping his wicket at the expense of the team .

India are practically through to the semi-finals so why go too hard .

None make any sense to me but something definitely wasn't right .

England bowled well but you still go after the bowling and try to chase down the target , pushing for singles really was ridiculous .

The young lad Pant is a wicketkeeper and decent attacking bat.
Dhoni's a bit of a cult figure and only in on sentiment is my guess.
Why wouldn't they take the chance to knock us out?
They thrash Pakistan every time they play.
Big mistake if they threw it away. We're a much bigger threat.

Something not right about those last 10 overs Hodger , I'd be having a look at betting patterns if I was the ICC , not saying it's gone off but I'd look at it just to satisfy myself .

The only thing I'd say on that is that Kholi seems as straight as they come.
I'd be very surprised if he was involved in anything underhand.
Decent sportsman, told their fans to applaud Steve Smith & not boo him.
Dhoni might have had a call when the game looked lost to exaggerate the margin of defeat for spread betting purposes.

Well done England , did it the hard way but came through none the less .

A date with India or Australia at Edgbaston beckons next week .

Whether those setbacks have galvanised the team I don't know but having Jason Roy back opening the innings with Bairstow and winning the toss has greatly helped .

Credit to England for winning these two games convincingly albeit against teams already through. Now theres a different kind of pressure with both teams everything to laik fo. Still think we can win it if things go our way.

These past two wins against India & N.Zealand have shown what we are capable of when we really want it, so fingers crossed for England eh in the Semi finals.
