    Olly Lancashire signs

O/S last night: "Crewe Alexandra have signed experienced central defender Olly Lancashire on a two-year-deal, as of July 1 2019.

The 30-year-old will leave Swindon Town at the end of June when is contract expires after captaining the side for the last two seasons.

He came through the ranks at Southampton, making 13 league appearances, before making his name in the EFL at Walsall for two years from 2010.

Making 58 appearances for the Saddlers, he moved to Aldershot for a season before linking up with Rochdale in 2013, where he spent three successful seasons playing on over 100 occasions in Leagues One & Two.

Moving on to Shrewsbury for a season in 2016/17, Lancashire represented Swindon 57 times over the previous two seasons.

With losing centre backs George Ray & Michael Raynes this summer, David Artell targeted the centre back position as his number one priority & has moved quickly to tie up the experienced Lancashire."

So a CH in need Bowery to reach a decision soon so we know what we need at striker. Hopefully they're working on FB.

Looks a decent, solid CB. He was back-up at Swindon last season and stand-in captain but their fans didn't take to him. Some fans questioning it already but look at Nolan and Hunt, neither of them getting games at their last clubs and they were probably our most consistent defenders last season. Artell obviously sees something in him that he can work with. Either that or he's cheap on wages!

Spoke to a mad keen Swindon fan I know (missed 1 game in 20 years, the day after an operation!) and he texted "Should be a good signing for you if he can stay fit". I read into that the 57 games over two seasons were more because injured off and on than left out ...
