I have heard from one of my German speaking sources that Maranda's contract was at an end at Wacker and the £600,000 quoted is "Youth Compensation" to Wacker for his development in their system. Can't yet confirm if this is true.
As Dools says FC Wacker finished bottom of the Austrian Bundesliga this last season winning 4 of their 22 games and were relegated so maybe they are shedding players due to reduced budget.
