Looks wide open to me,we are a bit unknown with a lot of new faces. We still have quality at the club and Nelson shud score a load in this league.Quietly confident we can challenge with the signings up till now.Particks takeover cud be a game changer if it goes ahead tho.
Reading on another thread that this years Championship will be weaker than last, here’s how I see the league next season.
United will undoubtedly be stronger than last season as the results under Neilson a big improvement on Laszlo especially after January signings. For the first time we’re going into a season with some continuity.
Partick Thistle won’t be as bad as last season. Results improved towards end of season and they’ve made a couple of decent additions.
Morton now have a manager who’s been successful in this league so expect they’ll be harder to beat than last season especially after the turmoil caused by McKinnon spending whole budget and doing the dirty on them.
Dunfermline another who changed manager last season and have done a lot of business so bit of an unknown quantity at the moment.
QOS under new (old) management and seem to be going down tried and tested route by signing previous players. With a prolific striker in Dobbie, they’re always going to be a threat but will probably lose as many as they win.
I expect Dundee to be decent but with so many changes it seems impossible they’ll be as strong as County who had a relatively settled squad and management combo who’d been in post a few months. Also considerable home advantage with away teams travelling all the way up there on day of game. Teams will see Dundee as a scalp and their home record has been poor for years.
ICT lost a couple of big players but always difficult to beat. Draw specialists yet again.
Ayr definitely be weaker. Lost too many good players not to be.
Alloa losing Goodwin makes life more difficult for them. Won’t match last seasons points total.
Arbroath coming up and will see this season as a free hit but replacing a big full time team in Falkirk.
Mods how about we merge Daly's thoughts onto the other thread?
done
Still plenty transfer activity to come for all the Championship sides but as things stand I think I we'll finally deliver. Last years disappointment added to the squad continuity are two solid positives plus having the same manager in position.
I'm not seeing anyone signing players that would worry me at this stage. If McPake can get his new signings clicking and adds a decent striker they might be a threat.
But right now, as things stand I think we have the defensive and attacking quality to win the league
We should be looking for 38 to 40 points min off QoS Ayr Alloa Arbroath this year. Anything less we are not going up.
Looking back at the last three of seasons, it is our 'away' form that has really found us out.
All I'm looking for this year is to turn draws into wins, and defeats into draws. If we can do that I think we are on our way back to where we belong.
Slightly bemused by those that think it will be an 'easier' league this year. I think ICT, P Thistle and the Fun will all be competing for that top spot. And there is always at least one other that will surprise.
It's all about building momentum and confidence. Automatic promotion is no done deal. FAR from it. But we WILL be involved. I'm positive about that.
I don't know if I can cope with the play offs again. Torture. 'Mon United, geez a break and romp to the title.
The signing of Shankland makes United a banker to win the league, however i cannot see him reaching his goals tally with us compared to Ayr United because he had a dinosaur coach(not nearly good enough for us)who's only coaching manual read attack attack attack,we have a LARGS man who asks Shankland to defend a corner.
I can understand why Robbie need's Shankland to defend a corner when Reynolds and Connolly cannot manage that without him,FACT.
