I think there should be a winter break for football during which we could play a bit of cricket
Our County Championship game against the current champions, scheduled to start at Guildford today (Monday), has had Day One wiped out by the heavy rain in the South East.
Also it does not look like Somerset are going to extend the Bess loan to Yorkshire.

Day 2
Been at the game today
The Guildford groundstaff did a good job in protecting the playing surface from yesterday's downpours and the game started on time this morning. Jordan Thompson made his Yorkshire debut and bowled quite well, picking up a couple of wickets. Patterson took three wickets in quick succession with the second new ball, just when Surrey threatened to dominate the match. Coad always looked dangerous too, but Olivier seems to have picked up an injury and spent some time off the field, only bowling 12 overs in the day.
Half a dozen real ales in the beer tent (mainly from the local Hog's Back brewery) , plus craft beers and ciders too. Very nice.
Not all the scheduled overs were bowled as the clouds came in again and play finished early due to bad light.
Surrey finished on 290-8
Why don’t they play cricket in the rain when everybody says it’s good weather for ducks?
Not at the game today. Played started on time, but it looks a bit dark.
Surrey 313 all out. Patterson 5 for 81.
Yorks 21-0

DAY 4 :Rain interrupted final day with Yorkshire making only 148 and following on. Top scorer was Thompson, making 34 on his County Championship debut, after taking a couple of Surrey wickets on Day 2 as well. Decent performance from him in the rainy conditions.
Bad light finally finished the game early with Yorks 30-0 in their second innings. Olivier to go for a scan on his hip straight after the game, although he was able to bat earlier today.
