But he is a long way from the bright lights.
Talking sense, and worth listening to.
We would never stand in his way of a move. But he does need to build on a decent first season. Not ground-breaking. Just something he was capable of. We knew that, we gave him that platform, the manager gave him that belief.
But players like him should be challenging for things, and from that aspect we don't want to stop that.
But only if we got the right fee for him. While he did come up on a few radar's last season, he fell of it after going very quiet for a few months. There isn't a queue for him. We don't have a line of Prem (or cash rich Champ clubs) ready to fight over paying us £18m.
If however, he comes and does it again, and improves, he most certainly will start coming up on certain clubs radars. If we got 20 goals next season, and around 10 assists, then he will command that sort of fee. It's still too early in his progression, and would be mad to leave. He loves it here, he is our main man. He loves that. And right now, this is the best place for him to progress. I think he probably knows that, for now best to stay with a club that is getting the best out of him, and see if he can repeat last year, and add to it. If that happens, we will have a much more saleable asset. Why go to a club like Brighton, who would likely be back in our league again pretty soon after sacking Houghton. far bigger and better, more established clubs will be interested if he performs again. Give us one more good season, if we look like we can make a real run at the play offs the season after, then see where we are at that point. If we look like not moving on, allow him to go then and get top price for him.
But he is a long way from the bright lights.
If he wants his move, he's vest off chuckling down and producing again. Then clubs will inevitably come calling.
Vest off chucking ffs
