Next summer mattock is 30 and out of contract. Why is PW considering letting a 23 year old go when TBF there's very little different between the quality of the 2...
There's been a few strange contracts chucked about at NYS over the past 12 month. Wood, proctor ect

It's a good point but if he doesn't want to be here there's not much point in keeping an unhappy chappy for 12 months and then letting him walk away for nowt! Obviously if we want to offer an improved, longer contract and he's willing to accept then it's a different story.

No one's mentioned Hulls apparent interest in PW. Unlikely as far as I'm concerned but keeps coming up on my news feed.

Purrington is a championship player who scored for them at Wembley.....what would his frame of mind be if PW stood in the players way now....he'll go surely.

    BBQ's getting smaller arn't they.

Can't blame him really - never let us down when he played yet frozen out - shame, as I think he has lots of potential and will be a real asset given regular game time. May live to regret letting him go unless we get a decent lad from the Addicks as part of the deal.....

What if Mattock stays fit irrespective of one year left and keeps Purrington out of the team? Let Purrington go with a good deal coming our way. It’s obvious the lad has proved his worth at Charlton last season so let him go. It is what it is....

PW is not giving him much choice. He's already stated mattock is number 1 choice.

    It’s a wage balancing act.

Pick your preferred player and give him a decent contract, but don’t have a player as cover that’s earning a similar amount. Instead have a younger cheaper player as cover and cross your fingers that your first choice doesn’t get injured.

I expect that at some stage this season we will see a right footed player playing at left back.
