The cheap unemployed option again. Never been a manager in the championship and much cheaper than Hughton.

I wish him all the best, but I would have preferred some unknown to us like Norwich did with Farke if we could not get Hughton.

At least that way they have an extensive knowledge of the European transfer market instead of the playing the foooking guitar in a rock band.

To me it looks like he's ran out of cash after his last sacking and as taken the next payday that came.

Is all well and good him being able to kick ar se but can he find good players and then motivate them.
I'll take the attack minded Bilic over the defensive boredom of Hughton any day.

Decent in my eyes!! Pity someone like him was not appointed when Moore was sacked rather than an inexperienced novice like Shan which cost us promotion! Hope he brings in his own back room staff and Appleton and Shan are kept well away from the first team.

How much cash will Lai give him - peanuts no doubt which was why giving Shan the job was disastrous and we missed the boat when this was our best bet for promotion!

The annoying thing about all this for me is that our recruitment team should have had people lined up to interview and appoint once they had an inclination that they were going to get rid of Big Dave.

As far as I am aware Bilic was available at the time yet we put Shan in place when clearly he was not going to be any better, if better at all, than Big Dave. It is called succession planning and total incompetence by our recruitment team and DoF. Because of them we lost our best opportunity of promotion which was there for us at the end of the season just gone.

I really cannot believe the negative comments that are coming from some on here about this appointment. What he hell do some expect?

We are in fact a Championship side, not good enough for promotion and one that is going to be on a significantly lower income stream next year. Get real, we are extremely lucky to get a man as good as Bilic for this position and I for one hope he is kept on for at least the two years of his contract no matter what happens from now on, and yes, I do mean even if we go backwards in the short term.

    I’m pleased and quite optimistic.
Loads of good experience at some good clubs and international level as a player and coach. He is a proper football man who should command respect from the players.
Maybe some of our assets may just stay around a little longer, but the question is will the board let them?

Got a great record with Croatia. Finished top of a group at the Euro's that included Germany. Knocked out in the 1/4's on pens.

Finished with 62 points with West Ham one season...

I think its about as good as an appointment as we could have made. Let's give him until Xmas and see..
Croatia, when he had the best players his country had to offer, and a country that since he left got to a wc final.

Look at the rest of his managerial record after you take out the win rate at Croatia.

No promotions, sack after sack, nothing other than a big name.

I hope he has the desire and motivation to do well, but when Hughton was available, how can someone with no promotions be the best candidate.

Had there been an experienced manager appointed - chances are we would have been in a better position to get promoted. Three players sent off in three matches - where was the discipline! Going to Vile to defend and time waste in the first half when they were there for the taking!

Now go f uck yourself you remoaning tosser. Boris will get us out of the EU - it’s as simple as 123! Live with it!

Bilic was Manager of Croatia for a little under six years and was relatively successful. He left that position in July 2012, approximately 6 years before Croatia were in the World Cup Final. Different era, different players. A lot can happen in six years, just look at us, where were we six years ago?

I am happy with the appointment and will give the chap a chance. I am not happy at how long it took to put in place.
