The fact that the Guardianista thinks he is the right choice tells you straight away that he is definitely not the right man for the job!

" A phobia is an overwhelming, and debilitating fear of an object, place, situation, feeling or animal. Phobias are more pronounced than fears. They develop when a person has an exaggerated, or unrealistic sense of danger about a situation or object" ( NHS definition, not mine)

Most inaccurate , and overused noun in the current lexicon used by the professionally offended.

I'm sure you're more open minded than that though.

Proof seems to be such a dirty word, it's like no one remembers 2003.

Rory Stewart is a highly intelligent and capable guy who would probably make a good Prime Minister. However, as with Kenneth Clarke before him, he needs to realise that his place is not with the Conservative Party.

The reality is that after many years when politicians have used the "major parties are a broad church" explanation to align themselves and seek positions of power with either Labour or the Conservatives, the grassroots of both parties are effectively taking back control of policy making. The Labour grassroots have dictated that the Labour Party will return to its Socialist principles, while the Conservative grassroots are dictating that the party will in future be defined as a Eurosceptic/Leave party. Conservative MPs who believe that's wrong no longer belong. Tom Watson in Labour has a similar dilemma.

I'm sure you'll have a nice lunch with your lady friend but if she's worth her salt she'll play you like a piano, confirming you in your own opinion of yourself. But what's in it for her?
    Hello Citizen Smith

Thanks for your comments and acknowledgement I would get along with Jacob. I would no doubt get on with him given the opportunity but he's more things to do at present which I appreciate.

Thank you also for wishing I had a nice lunch with my wealthy lady friend which I did today, thank you. Not that I should have to explain more fully but I suspect you may have, as usual taken the bait and jumped to the wrong conclusion. Incidentally, I suppose you're aping our Tony with the "my kinda guy" expression ...... please be original and not use poor English.

My step daughter (the lady in question) took me to lunch today as a belated Father's Day gift and also to discuss the possibility of me helping her sell a few acres of land she has with road frontage situated in a Notts ex mining village. Not being compassionate (as an ardent Brexiteer) I had suggested we approach a Housing Association with the possible view of them purchasing the land to build affordable rented accommodation for needy folk in that area. What's in it for her? Obviously only about one tenth of the value compared to selling the land for private dwellings, but as said earlier she's in a position to do this. So if anything comes of it, we'll have to wait and see. Would this true explanation of the situation and the "lady friend" I mentioned explain matters?

Back to frivolous matters ....... I hope to keep 'arising' to the situation for many years to come. It keeps a man young!

If homophonic means having an embarrassing taste in music, then yes.
