The 23–year-old is due to take a medical with the Potters this week, despite attracting attention from a number of clubs including Celtic.

Sportsmail understands that Stoke will pay north of £2m for Lindsay, who was instrumental in the Tykes' promotion to the Championship last season.

Lindsay, who started his career with Partick Thistle, had been heavily linked with a move to Parkhead.

West Brom, Derby and Middlesbrough were also keen, along with Italians Brescia.

However Stoke boss Nathan Jones appears to have won the race for his signature as he attempts to take his side back to the Premier League.
