Thread: Season 2019/20 Opening Day Fixture for United.

  1. #1

Season 2019/20 Opening Day Fixture for United.

With the league fixtures being published on Friday I am interested to see who people would like on the opening day of the league season.

For me a Dundee derby at home would be an exciting way to start the season and would generate a lot of interest, however if not Dundee at home then I would take Arbroath instead.

I would not be unhappy with Arbroath away as it is easy to get to for me.

We’ve failed to win first game of season in 2 of our 3 attempts in this league so an opening day derby wouldn’t be ideal.

One of the smaller clubs who’ve made a lot of changes over summer at home would be my preference.

So a derby it is then? 😀

A home game. Get 3 points on the board and set a marker to follow.

We've only got 10 players and you've got the fear already 😋

Don't want a derby first game, 3-4 games in or so

Arbroath will probably face Dundee and we'll get Dunfermline again

The two fixtures I would prefer to avoid are ICT and Ayr United away, Ayr especially after last season's dreadful record against them.

I would also not want Alloa or QOS away either but that is due to the plastic pitches they have and a home opening game against either is fine.

One other thought on the fixtures in general is with both Dundee teams in the same division surely it will be easier for the SPFL to programme the fixture computer to avoid having clashing home fixtures on the same weekend.

Our record against ICT was good last season. 🤔

From Broughty Ferry of course it is, the days of going on the longer away trips are over for me at the moment.
