I’m still on holiday then so any of the long haul away days for me, don’t want to miss a home game, a derby or a day on it at Arbroath.

Seen Dees posting this idea before and it totally mystified me. Are you saying that only true fans come from within the city boundaries? If so you could turn your fire on the Dees that live outside the city first?
And which club should folk support if they live in Longforgan, Liff, Monifeith Carnoustie, Gauldry, Newport Tayport? Forfar - you have to support Forfar? Cupar?
United draw a support from out with the city centre because of their success since 1962. It's a club people have fallen in love with wherever they live.
As an auld fella I don't expect you to have modern ideas but this is surely no that hard to grasp is it?

Plus going by that theory it makes our home crowds better and theirs worse, as their city only support don't bother going to Dens but we get more home fans at Tannadice despite half them coming from out of town (apparently)

That's comfortably the 6th best post you have ever made.😁

I think I'd support the club from where I come from so from your exstensive list I've only a slight problem with forfar....very slight.

It was a wee joke, it was an open goal, I couldn't resist sticking it in the net.

It would only be near truthful if anybody bothered replying.😁

Jealousy from them Stoke as they have no chunt that supports them from outside the city boundary walls.
United not only a city club but a Tayside club.😎

Not sure how your mystified...you got the answer there although 1962? Think you'll find 1983 closer to the truth...never understand why anyone would go out of their town or city to support a team they have no links to...as for modern ideas...glory hunting has gone on for years

    1962 Promotion
1965 Massacre of the Dees 5-1, Dees lucky to get one (1)
1966 European football arrives at Tannadice
1966 Beat Barcelona home and away
    1966 Beat Juventus at Tannadice
1967 Beat the Lisbon Lions home and away
    1974 Scottish Cup Finalists
    1979 League Cup Winners
    1980 League Cup Winners
Team put together by Jim McLean getting UK wide plaudits for the style and quality of football.

So quite a lot before 1983 and as you can see the starting point was 1962

1983 and beyond simply continued the story and brought us national, European and International recognition for the quality of football.

But by your reckoning and that of the auld golfer if you live in Barnhill or Cupar you're stuck without a team?
Its a parochial attitude and as said above it's just sheer jealousy. So suck it up. The city's Tangerine and staying Tangerine.

United were promoted in 1960 Stoke. They then went on to finish higher in the League than the Funsters either side of their ‘Greatest Ever Team’ winning the League. Imagine that mob doing that in 82 and 84. This 80s pish is pure Funster propaganda but if it keeps them happy then so be it.
