He bore a lot more responsibility for getting Wimbledon promoted than getting Notts County relegated. He was there for six years and built their team on a shoestring. Financially they have no right to be in League One, but he got them there. He's had not much more than six months at Notts and inherited a lot of other people's bad work, which he was only partly able to address in one transfer window. I'm not saying he should be guaranteed long-term security in the name of "stability", but I'd like to see him given more time to show what he can do when chaos isn't reigning in the background. As I've said before, we gave Sam Allardyce the benefit of the doubt after a worse start than Ardley, and it was one of the best decisions (or non-decisions) we ever made. Let's see what sort of state the club's in come the start of the season, assess what's realistically achievable, and judge Ardley against that.

Ardley was able to spend big on players and massively improve the side (on paper) and I'd say it showed in the games around the New Year against Mansfield and Lincoln. The fact he couldn't repeat that short term success despite the amount of signings he brought in when compared to Kewell, who had less time and resources/signings shows just how bad he was imo.

A decent manager would have kept this group of players up in my opinion. You can't tell me there was more going on behind the scenes than when Cotterill managed to get an underperforming side performing to the best of their abilities in 09/10.

I'd say there was a lot more going on behind the scenes in Ardley's case!

Agreed. Some of the players last season were **** heads. Some good of which couldn’t be moved on.

Lincoln City in League One or Lincoln United in the Evo Stik league?

Even though he was useless for us after his injury, I think he'll do well at another club.

We have had a few ''castoffs'' who seem to do well elsewhere.
