How very un - British of you Bt hardly the same comparison is it?

I get the argument both ways but I bet if you checked properly a lot of people travel from all over the world
To see the Royals and The buildings they frequent.

This contributes to our economy indirectly and keeps many in jobs

Honestly army88, the "Royal Family" make the heckles on the back of my neck stand up. Ostentatious wealth and privilege by birth right really should be consigned to the history books. The Russians had the right idea.

Perhaps so, BT, however, the Kinnocks and the Blairs, good socialists all, have been making a good attempt to emulate
anything which the Royals do. Ostentatious wealth and working hard on the privilege by birth right. Our local MP seems to work hard on this score too, although he does have a long way to go.

You know, as well as I do, that it will not stop, no matter who is running the country.
The proletariat have no real say in what happens, apart from the token gesture that the ruling class will let you vote.
However, because of the way the country is divided into constituencies, your vote can easily count for nothing depending where you live.
The only fair way to remedy this would be to have proportional representation, however, that is not a popular idea amongst a lot of politicians.

Life goes on and the only thing any of us can do is just get on with things and try to look after those who are less fortunate. Meanwhile ---the con continues!

As I said, it is something that goes against the grain for politicians!

Good god, do such forums still exist, I thought they vanished with the long overdue demise of the Soviet Union, but apparently not. It's a grand nostalgia trip for you lefties though isn't it BT, just don't go cooking them tractor production figures.

Man up and admit it sinkov, you never even knew the Labour Party want to harness the brilliant business acumen of this country's entrepreneurs? It's time to unleash the power of "corporate socialism", (I just made that up, but you can see where we are going)?
For the many not the few. Meanwhile homeless people are dying on the streets of Manchester...

"Man up" ? Is that still permissible on the left BT, you're probably OK on here, but that sort of phrase could get you into trouble in your Alice in Wonderland political world. I always had you down as a feminist ?

So your little politburo chats away over beer and sandwiches, while homeless people die on the streets of Manchester. That's how it was in the good old USSR, except they were dying in the Gulags back then, out of sight and out of mind. Happy days eh, will you ever get them back, Jezza and John think it can be done, me I'm not so sure, maybe sitting around pretending is as close as you'll get ?
