The state of scottish football has nothing to do with the political set up but more with ensuring a certain duopoly perpetuates ad infinitum. What sticks in the craw is that Wiggy up the road in Sheepsville had a historical chance to permanently change the Premiership voting structure from 10-2 to 11-1 which would have ensured a future fairer distribution of funds free from Infirm meddling, amongst other changes which could have been brought in. Instead he acted out of then self interest and now that the tribute act have re-established themselves that chance has now gone. Likely forever.

The state of Scottish fitba was summed up perfectly a few days ago when Doncaster announced the the SPFL should congratulate themselves on their efforts to stamp out sectarianism in our game phukkin delusional or what? honest tae phukk, you couldn’t make that nonsense up. Everything is geared around the bigot brothers, but hopefully and given time, with the influx of Yankee owners they will eventually see what’s going on and try again to change the system away from pandering to just two clubs

If the current regime can double the price of a tin of lager think what they can do for futba. £50 to get into top tier at tanny. Great.

Football in Iceland is sponsored by the state and from UEFA TV revenue, they have over 150 artificial pitches 7 of them indoor, they have over 600 UEFA pro B coaches. As an independent nation they have control of where they spend their money, they do not rely on the crumbs falling off a larger southern neighbours plate.

You are vastly over-simplifying the situation here and conflating two things that, while they may have some sort of impact on each other, you can't know that Scotland being independent would have any impact on sport in this nation. For instance you talk of artificial pitches in Iceland but ignore the fact the climate there means their need is far greater than ours. Fk artificial pitches anyway, football shouldn't be played on them.

The Lionesses have had millions poured into their bid for world cup glory whereas their Scottish counterparts have hardly got a pot to pyss in,it may have escaped your attention but per capita Scotland pay more to subscription channel's than any other nation in the UK but our clubs, men's and women's national sides get pennies compared to their English counterparts.
Last week Arsenal bid around 13 million pounds for Tierney the Celtic fullback who in my opinion is better than Wan-Bissaka the 50 million pound man and Robertson is twice the player of both of them. The common man or woman in England sneer at our nation's sporting prowess but is it any wonder?,our league's and national team's are in this age of TV money being massively underfunded yet this nation built on the reputation of Wallace and Bruce remain subservient to our southern masters.
As the title of the thread asks, when the phuck are we as a nation gonna wake up?,i am a very proud Scot and find it humiliating that the men's football team have failed to qualify for a major since 1998 especially when i see Iceland with a population less than Edinburgh knocking our master's oot O the Euro's and Croatia playing them aff the pitch in a World Cup Semi Final as an independent nation with a population over a million short of our's.
We cannot go back to the halcyon days when we produced players from poverty and the tenements playing in the streets with a tennis ball,if we are ever gonna produce players like Baxter,Johnstone or Sturrock it need's to be funded by this country being independent and getting a fairer deal from SKY.BT,etc,if people cannie see that then i honestly worry where the game in Scotland will end up,in my opinion its a complete joke at the moment and a lot of people who have supported their club and the national team are feeling disenfranchised.
I suppose we do bring some of our game's troubles upon ourselves though cos when the SFA said that Rod Petrie was in tears when appointed president of the SFA its only fair to mention that i shed a few myself,FACT.
The TV under funding won't change with independence the bottom line is the product on offer here is sh@te compared to England...the subscriptions paid by Scots is to watch English football not to watch the SPL. FACT

The population figures make it impossible for Scottish football to ever get a comparable deal, there just isn't the subscriber numbers to justify it. Hard to see how independence would make any difference to that.

The reason the product is shyte is because we are vastly underfunded by the TV companies and the English get far too much. That means that even small clubs in England can spend millions on players whereas our club's struggle to pay 50 grand for a transfer fee.I am not saying there should be parity but we should be getting a bigger share than we do.
I subscribe to BT Sport and watch mostly Scottish games,FACT.I doubt if i watched more than a handful of English games last season.

It is not hard to see where independence could make a difference at international level.Iceland were an even bigger joke than us until direct intervention from their government led to them qualifying for the Euro's and the World Cup,i cant see Boris, the Tories or anyone at Westminster rolling out the same model to their province in the north, can you?.

Perhaps Iceland are having an anomalous period as they have a good set of players at the same time. 20 years ago they were nothing, if in 20 years time they are still in the same position they are now then you are right, it's more than luck. I have my doubts though.
