My theory is that for our home dugout, getting pelters from the away support, if any, in the Mainer is preferable to getting sniped at by the moaners in the Mainer and the Coxy. Downside is the the moaners will just shout even louder to make sure that their views are heard.

Also not at all sure that the linesman running up and down the Mainer is influenced, in a good way, by comments from our dugout. however if it is a benefit to have the linesman running in front of the home dugout is there anything to stop the far side linesman from moving to the Coxy half of the pitch and bringing the main stand linesman down to the Shankly half of the pitch. would have a major downside for the Happy Clappers in the SE who would not have such a close relationship with the linesman who at present trots up and down in front of the SE crowd and relies so heavily on their eagle eyed and unbiased help when determining off side decisions and which side should get the throw in.

They probably slithered into the undergrowth, never used just abandoned.

I'm sure linesman positions are fixed, used to be less experienced linesman ran the stand side but not sure if that applies now.

Linesman are influenced by shouts, 5 subs a manager, co manager, kit woman and physio all shouting off influences.

We have had many a tight decision go in our favour cause of the Derry, this excludes the old firm obviously.
