Is that necessary? The blokes doing his job, part of the reason we are here is that he hasn’t done it well enough in the past. We have absolutely no idea if he’s “holding it all together” so go do one.

He’s hardly in a war zone helping the wounded is he?

I have to agree tho others prob won't. He's missed a months wages and is a large part of the reason we were relegated.

If you think it's easy to hold this shambles together, fine. Personally I'm very grateful that he's still here and doing his best in impossible circumstances.

He isn't a large part of the reason we were relegated. A small part, perhaps, in that he failed to pick up enough points to see us over the line, but that was never a given, and the damage was already done by then.

Regardless of the above, Ardley is pretty much the only person standing between the current situation - which, as bad as it is, still allows us to prepare for the season and put a team out in friendlies - and absolute chaos.

You might things can't get much worse, but they can, always. Believe me, if Ardley walks, things will get much, much worse.

Bit of rewriting of history going on there chap.

When he joined we had 26 games left to get the points required and were in 23rd place and a whopping 1 point from safety.

We finished exactly where we started despite him being able to sign a whole team.

Sol Campbell joined Macclesfield the day before, signed less than half that number of players was 24th and 5 points adrift......

Ardley was frequently too negative and that cost us points without doubt.

So did he have only a “small part” to play?

Interesting you think he had such a small role in 26 games but is now “holding it together”?

Has he suddenly decided to take it seriously? Of course not.

Yes the background couldn’t have helped. And it hasn’t been all NA’s fault.

But there is a world of difference between someone continuing their job when they haven’t been paid for 2 weeks (having been given a very lucrative contract by all accounts) and a lot of other folk who have a daily struggle despite being paid.

He has a very good well paid job doing something he likely loves.

If he walks. Some one will replace him. If he doesn’t, don’t start assuming it’s because of his love for the club. It’s most likely the promise of continuing his contract.

What part of history did I rewrite?

If we are to apportion blame for last season, Ardley would surely get his fair share, but there are others who would get more. Ardley didn't put us in that position. He found us there and he failed to resurrect us. Over the course of the season, though, his points per game ratio would have seen us safe.

I agree that his negative tactics likely cost us, and in any normal season, he would have been relieved of his duties. But these aren't normal circumstances, and we need all the stability we can get. The fact that Ardley seems a decent, honest, and diligent bloke might not stand for much most of the time, but right now it actually matters that we have someone like that around the place.
