    Down under

Whatever people's thoughts are on Leeds travelling to the other side of the world....money grabbing/waste of time/needless exercise etc etc, I've just watched the video of their public relations training exercise, wonderful relationship with the fans, signing shirts, throwing shirts into the crowd, Tony dorigo, Michael bridges and our boys, well done....yeah maybe that's what the club and radz wants, but the squad looked happy and relaxed.

It's literally half.a world away from the meat grinder that is the Championship, the players who are out there are understandably "distant" from that reality. Great PR, waste of time in the bigger scheme of things.

But we've had some wonderful insights from the Scum commentators - 'Leeds have actually been competitive during the whole of the first half'. Because the only competitive teams play in the Premier League obviously.

I feel like we've played really well given that one of their players is worth 7 times our entire squad, our ground, and training complex put together. We've had some great chances and their two goals were scored on the break after periods where we dominated possession and looked dangerous. Our usual lack of composure in front of goal meant the two golden opportunities to score were missed.

The difference has been Rashford's stunning skill and pace, and their general exploitation of our weakness against speed on the break - the same sorts of thing that caught us out whenever we lost last year. Puts into context how we might have fared in the PL without huge investment in the team this year.

The moments where our defenders have to control a bouncing ball or ball in the air when facing their own goal with attacking players bearing down on them continue to be accidents waiting to happen. How many times did they fluff those moments last year leading to goals against, and ultimately uphill struggles or defeats?
