O/T Ministers 'consider night ban for new drivers'

    Seriously at night?
Come on surely it’s not just them that need to be looked at.
There are some total idiots on roads who don’t even know what an indicator is

There should be a compulsory ammount of hours driven by a new driver during the hours of darkness during their learning period.

There was scheme that was brought in but not compulsry that gave 6 hours of driving on motorways and higher speed country roads that reduced the insurance premiums for young drivers.

Here you can do 20 hrs of lessons and then be an accompanied driver with your parents for a couple of years in the family car. This method gives the parent the right to add the kid onto their insurance at no extra cost and the kid gets the benefit of a cheaper insurance when they pass. It also gives the parent responsibility to make sure the kid can drive safely in all conditions and at night. Not to be used as a taxi for drunken parents however and any points accrude by the child automatically goes to the parent.

Pretty standard practice here for new **** drivers, as is not being allowed others under a certain age in the car with you unless they are siblings e.g. ok to drive little brother/sister to school etc.

Case scenario- young lad 17 passes his test and is free to legally drive on the road. Mates age from 17-21 all pile in the car with screams of encouragement to race anything on four wheels. Result- multiple loss of life. How many times have we read/ heard of this kind of situation?

I don’t care how many parents praise their young lad/lass for passing their test boasting they're a great safe driver.

Stats show that most car accidents are caused by 17-24 year old males. The stats on young female drivers involved in serious accidents are steadily climbing.

Young drivers have no concept of power/machine in unison and should be restricted to certain levels. What they are is open to debate. A lot of young drivers don’t drive between midnight and 7.00am as it helps to reduce their premiums. Hence why most serious car accidents are during daylight hours so as to fuel their testosterone adrenaline pumped up rides.

Case scenario- 28 year old passes test, wants to pay less insurance, road tax etc because he cannot use the roads as much. Also still has to get the bus to work because he works the night shift! Fair or what?
