James Chester - must be other options

Got the experience etc, but with Villa adding 3-4 new / better CB "s, cant be that highly rated by club, and he would do little in bolstering our lack of height / aerial ability at the back, would prefer to see Strujik. Compare our main CB"s with say Cardiff, Bamba & Flint, thank god we only play them twice.

He might be all right, BUT, just for a change, why cant we get someone that we are not taking a chance on.
The management team need to attend gamblers anonymous.

Problem with any addict is that they need to acknowledge they HAVE a problem before they can start to address it. You think "the management team" would be so self aware?😉

Currently I'd still trust him more than White and Cooper.

ive not seen Chester have a bad game. He’s experienced and has to be a decent signing for us imo. MB wouldn’t go for the big immobile CBs, that’s not what he wants. White may need to develop fully into the first team and Chester can offer mobility, leadership, experience and guts. Ok signing for me if it happened and within the budget we have

If MB is happy and wants him then that’s all that matters

    Bang on Pacaman ........

FACT- Whatever happened to club policy of giving kids the opportunity to develop via first team match experience.

FACT - Bielsa switches between two and three central defenders on the pitch depending on how many strikers the opponent has on the pitch.
Bielsa is an advocate of the spare-man philosophy in defence, meaning he always wants one centre-half free to sweep up and not be hindered by man-marking.

FACT - Bielsa raised the point last season asking why Pontus had never played for a top club team ?

Evidently the Bielsa Conclusion is Pace and evidently that defensive ingredient needs sorting fast within budget if not within current ranks.

Only one of the points is relevant if (as appears to be the case) whatever funds have been (or are being) generated via player sales and getting rid of the Orta dross is being kept under lock and key. Why are the league winning U23s not seeing opportunity in the 1st team (last season was not very encouraging (as far as 1st team progression) if you were in the U23s)?

Pace is all good, but you have to consider being bombarded with high balls too, which is what will happen in this division.
