    Man on the Moon

Hard to believe it is 50 years today that we first landed on the moon.

The Apollo missions had an enormous influence on me - I was glued to the telly for them all. Culminating in watching live pictures from the moon as Armstrong took his first step.
Being a spotty ****ager at the time I decided that a job at mission control in Houston was my dream job. I applied and was accepted for a degree course in astrophysics at the University of Houston...but there was no way I could afford the fees (I went to Loughborough studying electronics and physics instead)

Even more impressive for me was how they managed to save the crew of Apollo 13 following an explosion on board. Absolutely gripping.

    Anyone else remember those times?

Yep, sure do have always been fascinated by space. Was in St.Ives in 69 on hols. Everyone in the hotel was sat in the lounge in dressing gowns watching the landing on TV as it was early doors. Can't believe that's 50 years ago, where's the time gone. What an opportunity you missed there 59-60 who knows where that would have taken you.

the amazing Astro-Naught ride - looking back it seems so Primitive - but did at least open the door to 50yrs of Moon exploration - with many countries since addiing their Flags to the original....and with the Moon Base of today - manned by peoples of every nation....truly incredible.....but a favourite of mine, has to be the Moon Cam....with it's 24/7...365 live view of Planet Earth.....can't get enough of it !
