    Another decent player missed

See WBA have signed Semi Ajayi from Rotherham, powerful, athletic CM / DM, who for big lad is very assured & confident with the ball. Would have offered the team something different at both ends, & even if not being a starter, having him available for last 20 mins, either trying to hold onto slender lead, or pushing for equaliser, could have been useful.
WBA, Cardiff, Stoke, Fulham, all adding decent Champ experience !

Cheap as chips as well as a decent player with a very good attitude by all accounts..a bargain for WBA.

Time is running out for us to get a quality CB in now..gut feeling tells me we ain't gonna even bother!

Oh well...the Premiership is over-rated anyway.

Semi Ajayi can be excellent but makes big mistakes at important times. Energy great, attitude great but put him alongside Coops and it would be mayhem, especially given Casilla flaps under stress. As a midfielder his passing lets him down at present.
Great move for Semi and Rotherham will get another £1 million I’m led to believe with add ons. He played for his country Nigeria so his progress is good. Just not stable or polished enough yet for us to gamble in the first team.

And way we have is so much better? Dump Cooper and get BPF back between the sticks (yes, he's not perfect but he's a f00king more "stable" than Casilla), and Ajayi would have fitted in well, but that won't happen now.

Do we really need another CM as Phillips looks like staying and kids look like stepping up why would we sign someone who will block Bogusz and Shackleton and add to the wage bill?

Areas Imho we need to strengthen are up front and CB (if we get Chester that will be good). Rumour we might sign Darlow from the barcodes too.

I have a horrible feeling we won’t reinforce up front but with the wingers and attacking players we have then it just puts more onus on them to score.

Struijk looked very good the other night though as did Edmonton so who knows maybe they will break through too.

I agree with your logic. Some have said we should have been looking at Sawyers, but he would, possibly, stop Shackleton progressing.

i don't know if the U23's are good enough CB cover (MB also likes Ayling as CB cover). I have assumed so after Halme was allowed to leave, but we do look light in that position.

We also have to manage the squad - bringing players in of Costa's quality should be good long term (whichever division), but signing too many 'decent championship players', who aren't good enough long term can create problems too. Orta etc should be looking to bring in quality on loan, rather than average players on 3 year contracts.
