Shelvey: You never knew what Rafa was thinking

Here's one player who seems to be very happy that Rafa's left - understandable from his point of view I'd say.

Sour grapes from a player who only pulls a great game out of the bag now and again
We can't carry players when your a club fighting relegation every season
I think he is one of those players who thinks he is better than what he is

I agree with you, Kev. This thing about communication and Rafa is nothing new, too. Gerrard says he hardly spoke to Rafa, and still says he was one of the greatest he ever worked with.

As Hughie says, I can see why he feels happier but this is basically an arse-licking, please pick me exercise. Kev's right and the reason Rafa didn't pick him much was because he dropped out of too many games too often.

If he plays regularly, I hope he plays to his potential but there's a reason he's plying his trade here instead of at a top club. Imo, Shelvey at his best is one of the best English midfielders but we hardly ever see his best.

I get the whole 'player glad to see manager who didn't play him go' thing...but in the current context maybe he didn't need to say things in that way?

I think it’s now or never for Shelvey, if he doesn’t get his act together now he never will.
