Taking 2018 as a guide (the latest published accounts), the club had a £40+m turnover, of which around 25% was gate receipts.

No well run company, with cyclical revenue streams (like that which a football club depends upon), would expose itself to cash-flow issues caused by a known drop in revenue at certain times of the year (Fireworks manufacturers, Christmas tree sales etc etc), they manage such drops and continue in business (or fail because they aren't well run!). To suggest that we can't afford to invest because the last home game was back in May is..............words fail me (unusual)

Even if we didn't get all transfer monies up front surely we get enough to bid and put down payment on a player we want

It's very rare these days for any one to pay upfront, usually in instalments. (I think the maximum length of payments is 3 years and was set due to Ridsdale's antics with us. Brentford may have likely paid more upfront hence the lower selling price for Pontus.

What's wrong with mentioning the last gate receipts? There was inference that AR is trousering the money. Yes and maybe planning cashflow/balancing the books includes selling and buying players when you have no income you fkn know it all. Tho am sure such an astute football forensic accountant such as the calibre of WTF could advise LUFC how much better he could run the club.
