If Boris and Farage learn their lesson and work together, and you'd hope they will, this result won't be repeated.
Canny bit of analysis is that sinkov, you are totally wasted on here!

In a nutshell BT, another false dawn for the LibDems, their hopes have always evaporated long before most of us have finished our Full English. This time will be no different.

I know that the Conservatives are right wing knobs and do ****ty stuff.
I know that Labour are lefty knobs and do stuff that is ****

But what exactly does an SDP do. They used to like to think of themselves as the arbiters of reason but what do they actually do or believe in?

Sinkov, you should apply to Tory Cental Office for producing spin like that - congratulations!

Here is the change in the votes since the 2017 election.

    Lib Dem +14.3%
    Tory -9.6%
    Labour -12.5%

And the Brexit Party managed 10.5% - in a Brexit supporting area.

These are the stark facts. there are always back stories to every election. No question we are making swift progress now. we are gaining council seats right around the nation regularly, this was a typical instance of what is happening.

If we can win here there are hundreds of more favorable seats to target.

Are you ignoring the fact that there was an agreement with the Greens and PC that they wouldn't field candidates, so that their supporters could vote LibDem, or are you actually unaware of that fact ? And now that I've made you aware of it, do you seriously think PC will stand aside again at the next GE ?

It really does pay not to get too excited about a by-election result 59, especially one held in circumstances that won't pertain at the next General Election. If anything this result will damage the LibDems and Remain, as it demonstrates clearly that someone will have to bang heads together and get Boris and Sir Nigel on the same page. Once that happens you're toast. But it's not that important I suppose, you're toast anyway.

If it was just this result then I would be delighted but not too excited.

But we have been winning council by elections regularly in different regions.

We had a brilliant set of council elections in May.

We had a superb set of Euro elections.

Jo Swinson has hit the ground running.

Our membership is at an all time high.

Our politics are very fluid at the moment but right now we are having a strong surge.

And beware allowing Boris/Nigel getting it together. It is estimated that around 60 Tory MP's would not buy into it, with all that that implies.

Sorry I meant Liberal Democrat in the post above- what do they do?

You are all forgetting the "Bouncebackability" of the Labour Party.

Millions will be voting FOR THE MANY NOT THE FEW come the next General Election...

Where are we on the 2nd referendum 59, you've gone very quiet on it. Would the LibDems accept the result if Leave won again, Swinson said she wouldn't, has she backtracked yet, she'd be very wise to, because if two of the major parties, Greens and LibDems, say they'll only accept one result, then the idea is dead in the water.
