There are 3 possible reasons why the sale might not be announced today:

1) Hardy is lying
2) Hardy is deluded
3) The Danes might see it as bad form to be announcing their plans for Notts before the staff have even been paid.

I'm leaning towards 2 and 3.

They could still announce the sale while saying that the first thing will do is ensure that everyone is paid (including the taxman).
