I am just wondering how we can afford £100K plus a week for a player/coach?

So when's he meant to coming as a coach/player - he hasn't got his badges yet?

Do we need an ego in the team or would that detract from the team? Would the younger lads be looking to give Rooney the ball rather than give it to the player in the best position? Rooney was on about £400K a week at MU. He is on $3.5M a year now in the USA. We can't afford £100K+ wages for a single player plus he isn't as mobile as he once was. If he were to come on £10K a week or less to get his badges and do some coaching, maybe but I don't see any added value to the club or the team of having him there. Financially he would only bring revenue in, and not much at that, if he were playing regularly and he would help sell a few shirts. Or maybe they are gambling on having him bringing Far East interest in...... personally, I don't see any advantage in having an over the hill "star"

Nah, we aren't the sort of club to bring in an Ashley Cole type figure, or years ago, a bloke called Dave Mackay or even a Paul McGrath

If he’s been on that sort of money for the last decade or so he’s hardly going to struggle financially while he gets his badges with us.
Seems like an arrangement that is likely to be mutually beneficial or possibly linked to another source of investment.
Either way...after all that has happened recently and the manager and players that have arrived...in Mel we trust.
