    O/T Political Correctness

Discussed at length on here and I've often mentioned how the organisation I work for here in the US lean heavily towards a PC culture. I was therefore shocked to see the following headline on our employee web site today:-

Room change for SS mtg. Aug. 6

Blimey! Hope the Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer doesn't get wind of it

    I'll make that suggestion gm_gm.

I recently learned a new word after seeing this message:

Last winter the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity, Equity & Inclusion announced the creation of three employee resource networks (ERNs). The new ERNs are now up and running and providing benefits similar to employee resource groups to people with diversabilities, veterans and Native Americans.

Diversabilities? (even the spell checker doesn't like it). I thought it was a typo until I looked it up. Apparently disability has negative connotations (lacking in ability) so it's being replaced with diversability (abilities that are different).

Hopefully we don't have to rewrite history. "That diversability kid. Sure plays a mean pinball" doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

That reminded me of the old Prisoner-0f-War Camp joke, CAM.

(Over the camp PA system - with German accent)

"Achtung, achtung! Ve are pleased to tell you zat zere vill be a change of clothing today.

Hut 7 vill change vith Hut 3...Hut 9 vill change vith Hut 2..."

Totally unrelated to your point and not that funny, I know, but it sparked the memory!

Absolutely right, chaps. I was really in two minds about posting.

If in doubt leave it out...
