Different tactics for different games and different combinations of players within games. Can't see anything wrong with that.
I suspect the players themselves tend to revert to the long ball when they see DG come on, because he has proven very successful as a target-man in the past. I'm not sure they're acting under Mowbray's orders.
The bottom line of failure so far, though, has not been the tactics; it's been the poor quality of the attacking passes.
I don't think we'll see the best of this team for another month, because there are a lot of new players to fit in. Unfortunately, patience is not the strongest virtue of a football crowd.
What gets me, though, is that the knuckle-draggers on the Telegraph site can't even bring themselves to admit that Bennett played well on Saturday. They wanted him to play badly to confirm their opinions, so - in their eyes - he did!

There does come an end to a players shelf life. I know Mulgrew passed his. At the end of last season, I though DG looked like things had caught up to him. And I can only comment on the brief appearance at home vrs Charlton, it looked like he had hit a wall. And I am in agreement, I feel when he plays, the players have an easy 'out'. And I feel that playing him from the start right now is poor. It's regressing, and what message does it send out to the likes of Brereton, or before him SG.
£5M is alot for a club our size. We have to persevere with the lad we chased, we felt was worth alot of money to us, and show him we have 100% faith. That will work in our interest in the long-term.
DG should solely be back-up. I do feel he can play an important role this season. Just not a starting one, unless we have injuries. Sometimes you have to draw the line on the past and just move forwards.

I was very harsh on Bennett. I don't think he should RB moving forwards. And I don't think he will be.
But I would not discount him playing in RM to cover Nyambe. That's his position after-all.
I hard he played well on Sat. Much improved.
Their second goal which killed us, came from his side of the pitch. So even on a decent day, I still maintain he concerns me.
