    One to forget

    Meh.

We got a bit sloppy when knackered late on but I've seen plenty worse efforts against the Old Firm than that.

It's just a natural expectation of what happens when a club with 17 (at the last check, it's probably gone up) times the resources doesn't have an off day and/or you don't have luck on your side. If you accept that's the league we play in, it seems somewhat redundant to complain about it when it duly happens.

The sooner the OF bugger off to the European leagues the better.

For us it's a bit of a dampener after the League Cup groups and Friday night is now absolutely huge. Winning that will more than bring the spirit back but a loss will mean any momentum we had is well and truly dead and heap the pressure on us ahead of Accies.

They had an off day for most of the first half and we still only managed one shot on target.

Their off days are still better than us at our best though. And if we had that penalty - which we probably should have - we're likely 2-1 up well into the game.

For perspective, West Ham just spent 80 million quid and were very lucky to only lose 5-0 at home today. This is modern football. You either chuck it because it's scarcely sport any more or you accept your thumping when it's your turn with a shrug and move on. Of course we looked poor at times and made mistakes, especially when tired late on, because that's what happens when you're up against players from what is essentially a different planet. Worrying about these performances, or being angry or disappointed, is a colossal waste of time.

The Old Firm are going nowhere so this idea that all will be good once they depart to some fantasy super League is pointless. We could perhaps try and play them using less naive tactics than we did today mind you.

We will see...the pattern is now so strong in so many leagues that domestic football as it is just now is becoming unsustainable in many places. It will be a while yet until it happens and even longer until there's the relevant second tier for the Old Firm but it'll happen eventually. And I'm certainly not saying everything will be good when they go btw.

Anyway, it's easy to say don't be naive after the event when beforehand the attitude was "get in their faces with a belief we can get something ... would rather lose having a go than playing everyone behind the ball only to lose a goal in the 90th minute ...Correct, got have a go at them with our pace up front and get a wee rub of the green. Best form of defence is ATTACK....let's get into them."

We didn't do everything right today by any means but even if we had...we'd probably still have lost and probably by two or three. I just can't get wound up about it these games any more.
