    (Freddie being a rare exception).
Didn't seem to be a problem when Steve Evans was in charge, not that I'm suggesting his scattergun approach was the right one either
    Greedy ?

As you seem to know what we pay in wages and the LOW BIDS we’ve made recently could you actually explain what we pay and what LOW BIDS were offered.

We offered a decent fee for one, why pay above the odds. We have our valuation and selling clubs have theirs.

It’s a good job Paul Douglas managed to get the Freddie Ladapo signing over the line, especially as two other prominent League 1 clubs were also after signing him.

I would imagine Rotherham United are in the top six when it comes to paying wages in league one .

500k strikers don't leave Plymouth Argyle for buttons a week , Plymouth is a very desirable place to live and they aren't a small club either by any means , there must have been something in it for the lad to choose Rotherham because they weren't the only club who wanted him .

So why have we been turned down by four different clubs for a central defender(who we must get in ASAP) because we've offered too little? We must operate sensibly in the transfer market,we allow clubs to buy our players very cheaply but we are not clever enough to bring players in at the proper price.

So if we sold ajayi for 2 million instead of 1.5 million then instead of offering 300k for a league 2 CB we could have offered 800k and deff got him.
Yep that makes more sense now. Douglas needs sacking as obv he is running the club and is making poor deals for rufc

What is the proper price though?
So you would offer more than the valuation we have put on a player just to say we’ve signed someone. ?

Grayson at Blackpool has chosen not to sell Tilt and offered him a new contract.
One Centre-Back chose to play in the Championship, why wouldn’t he, I’m guessing the others are overrated and overvalued. Once we’ve reached our valuation that’s it.
The lad at Leyton Orient is still there, no other clubs have come in to offer more.
Plenty of available cash or not I doubt we will be paying over the odds for any player.
A transfer fee is only one part of the actual cash that will have to be paid out.

It's not as simple as that anymore Bill , back in the day the transfer market was open 10 months of the year but now every club in europe are looking to recruit players all at the same time .

There were some very high profile clubs last week who couldn't get deals done and have to make the best of it .

Agents have this transfer window malarkey down to a fine art playing one club off another .

You'll probably see more activity as the clock ticks down to the final day of the window when all hell breaks loose .

Coming to the conclusion that TS is viewing us now as a "value for money third tier club" , which will be ok for a lot of fans. There won't be any financial risk taking . Signing say five injury prone players on cheap will look quite good if a couple last the season ok ...if none do he will look a bit stupid. So far three players, two of them new signings, haven't made it through pre-season.

Don’t see how anyone can blame the club for players getting injured.
We could pay £1M for a player and he could still get injured preseason or anytime throughout the season, all part and parcel of football ⚽️

True, but you have to consider why we usually have a lot of players out injured under the Warney regime, and much more so than under Steve Evans. It could be just sheer bad luck... but if you look at the previous fitness records of the players, it probably isn't. If it IS sheer bad luck, it will probably even out eventually (and I hope that is the case) , if not it is unlikely to do so. We shall see...
