Lol Yeah how the heck football’s survived all these years without VAR is beyond me.

What we’ve had so far is the antics of players and officials in front of the cameras. Now we’ve got faceless people miles away from the play, pulling strings to change the outcome of a match.

If there’s corruption in football then this seems a prime area to exploit

I think if in the long run it cuts out the really big refereeing errors (e.g. ref conned into giving a penalty by winger doing a great impression of a dying swan) then it will be OK. Seems to be over concentrated on micro-decisions at the moment (e.g. goal ruled out because someone's armpit hair was offside a week before the ball went into the net).

Biggest problem currently is lack of communication with fans at the game.

And there have been wrong decisions which undermine faith in the new system.

    Lack of communication with fans?
It’s pundits and clubs management that’s moaning about it via media

While interpretation exists there will always be 'wrong' decisions. To that end it would only ever work on b&w decisions like goal line technology. Trials go on for months and get decided by judge and jury and you still get miscarriages of justice. VAR is trying to solve problems in a matter of seconds, a minute at the most.

They're also saying that the film quality isn't good enough for offside decisions, not enough frames per second.

If they’re going to be that picky then time to call it a day
