Thread: Stoke city attendance v Derby

  1. #11
Clearly Stoke fans are boycotting their club because of there decision to let Berahino go.

Swansea has a population of over 243,000. Hardly a town!
Not too bad a place to visit either.
Stoke? Never been there apart from dropping my grandson off at Uni.
Gambling? I rarely bother. One lotto ticket every Saturday and an occasional (about every two years) visit to Swindon dogs with my skittles team.
I've never been addicted to anything and have trouble understanding how anyone is, especially gambling which doesn't involve anything entering your body.
Gates are dwindling due to the excessive cost the fans are asked to pay along with the amount of televised matches.
Just remembered: at skittles each player in each half puts a pound in a kitty and the highest score of each half collects a fiver. I guess that is gambling, but not if you are the best player in the half! I picked it up 16 times out of 29 last season

Chris regarding "I've never been addicted to anything and have trouble understanding how anyone is" Most people who have addictions don't understand either. A lot of things happen on a sub conscious level. Its almost never because the person loves drugs/Gambling/drinking/smoking etc. Its often a form of release from some inner unhappiness and seen as a quick fix. That's all it is though a quick fix and not a lasting solution. Hence the vicious circle.

Both of these clubs are City's with not much competition with other clubs.
I'd like to think our support would be more resilient. But I wouldn't bet on it!

Personally, I would like to see gambling advertising treated in the same way as tobacco products. Gambling advertising in my opinion is the worst on TV, written by morons who must expect viewers (like me) to fall for their rubbish. A parasitic ‘industry’.

Oh, and Dan, I am quite calm in my dislike of gambling companies, I’m not getting hot under the collar or going purple in the face. It’s controlled dislike......! LOL

Couldn't agree more. Don't care for their supporters either. I remember Nick Hancock once phoning up Paul Franks ranting about Albion after a night match at our place. A desperately unfunny man who tried so hard to be funny. He 'quit' showbiz to sell mortgages in his home town which is ironic given most of the layabouts there are in sheltered accommodation or grim high rise.

Yes, it's amazing how they afford to build these massive hotels in Las Vegas also. I've never been a gambler at all but I do matched betting. It's not really gambling despite the name as via a software program you lock the profits before the event even starts at the time you place your bet so whoever wins you make a profit regardless. Every month it's always good to return a profit of quite a few hundred quid.
