Going back a long way to the 70's I always thought Trevor Phillips should have done much better.

Trying to sell corporate stuff at Millmoor must have been hard.

Paolo Vernazza our star signing from Arsenal came in with 20 minutes left at QPR with the score 1-1, put through one on one with the keeper and.......hit the corner flag!

After coming to the club on a white horse he failed to make it at Millmoor or anywhere after that!

Good shout for Chris Hudson. Unbelievable skill and speed for a full back.

After Chris finished playing professionally he spent one season playing for us, Kimberworth Park, in the Rotherham Sunday League. Our goalkeeper was ex Forest from their first division days but we weren't a great side. Chris just played for a laugh, we couldn't get him to concentrate on anything serious. Anway we were playing Aughton away, who were good, so we were playing on their steeply sloping pitch. Chris was playing centre forward and in the second half we were losing about 8 - 0 and playing uphill with virtually no chance of getting out of our half. We played a ball out of defence and found Chris on his own in their half. There was no chance of him getting to the penalty area without getting caught and their goalie had come well out of his goal to meet Chris who was 40 to 50 yards out. He hit it straight through the goalie's legs and into the net. He nutmegged the goalie from 40 yards and scored. Everybody fell about laughing and even though we lost 10 -1 we thought our goal was worth 10 of theirs

I always liked Butch but always seemed to lose his place after having a good game. I have always wounded what went through Ronnies head when he dropped Butch to the bench?

Paolo Vernazza was a very good player but again was not played in the right position for us. His game was making goals not scoring them but 9 times out of 10 Ronnie either played him to deep or to high.

Wraggy could be bone idle at times and that is what stopped him moving up.

Gooding was a class act and should have played in the first division.

Who was the ginger haired lad in the late 80’s, Tony Simmons? He looked brilliant at first and then a mixture of arrogance and idleness saw his career go down the pan, last I heard, albeit 25 years ago he was making a living as a pool hustler.

Main asset was his speed. Decent goalscorer originally, but when injuries slowed him down he was never the same player
