    Stats v Chorley

    All stats from BET365......half-time update

No idea what is happening "in the flesh", but the stats on my screen were absolutely abysmal up until 27 minutes....even worse than Ebbsfleet.......ZERO SHOTS and ZERO CORNERS......meanwhile the part-timers had 5 shots, 3 corners and scored one.....grrrrr

Our manager, hArdley?, then threw a light switch and we got going, took our first shot and 3 minutes later we scored from our 2nd attempt...woop de doo.

    Half-time stats.....Attacks Notts 39 - Pub team 37
    Good attacks - Notts 30 - Chorley 27
    Possession - 55 - 45
    Shots Notts 4 - Chorley 7
Shots on target Notts 1 - Chorley 3
    Corners Notts 0 - Chorley 4
    Score 1 - 1

Seems like we are trying to keep hold of the ball, but we ain't getting to the byline and not getting enough shots at the onion-bag......Chorley have had less of the ball but are a lot more effective around our box......those returning from the match will flesh out my theory.
    Will update at FT.....Barkers Starkers

Statistically a chalk-n-cheese 2nd half compared to the first......maybe Ardley heard he was for the Danish Pork Chop ie the Vikings were overheard at halftime asking where the famous Notts P45 locker was situated....pens were offered!!
Ardley had his Neil Warnock halftime speech prepared.....and it worked as Notts scored a hamper-full of goals

    Final stats - Attacks - Notts 69 - Chortle 64
    Good Attacks - 54 - Clueless 45
    Possession - 57 - 43
    Shots on target - 6 - Chorley 3
    Off target Notts - 6 - Ch 8
    Corners - Notts 2 - Ch 5
    Final score 5 - 1.....no, it's not a mis-print!

Summary - A storming 2nd half sees Notts trounce the Northern part-timers, and that 45 minutes sees Ardley safe from the Chop for now!.....Notts move up to a mathematical halfwayish position in division 5, 3 points off the play-offs and 5 off the dreaded trapdoor.

Starkers is off to get rat-arsed ......and discuss the match with a bewildered flock off goats.

ps here is the infamous Warnock half-time rollocking......hopefully this is what Ardley said https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=im85NY4NKt4

Edit - Barnet's 89th minute equalizer v Torquay means we are now 2 points off the play-offs, happy days but another late result (Aldershot sneaked a draw by equalising on 94 minutes!) means we are still only 4 points off the trapdoor........this league is a bit tight at this stage of the season, one decent weekend plus Monday, Tuesday night, can see you challenging for top 7, or conversely floundering at the bottom!!

NA adamant he didn’t give it the hairdryer at half time just told them they needed to up the tempo a little. I think Enzio goal early second half followed quite quickly by the third lifted everyone’s spirits from a Notts perspective. Had we not scored when we did I still worry how that could have ended. I refuse to get too excited night now.

We needed the 3rd goal otherwise we probably would have tried to sit on the 1 goal lead, we said at 2-1 that if we got a third we'd get 5, you could just tell from how the game had set up until that point.

Lies, damned lies and statistics eh? For anyone looking at the scoreline and thinking that we outclassed Chorley, think again. For 30 minutes we were absolutely clueless, we were being completely played off the park by a team of part-timers and should have been at least two goals down. Then, with our first meaningful attack O'Brien had the awareness to set up Tyson (who's only contribution until then had been to tackle himself in their box) finished well. The rest of the half was uneventful, but we were very lucky to go in at half time on level terms. Even in the second half we didn't create a lot, but three of the goals were real quality strikes from outside the box, the sort we are lucky to see 3 times in 3 months, let alone 3 times in 20 odd minutes. The plus point is that this result should have given confidence a big boost, especially with all the strikers getting on the scoresheet. We now have to make sure this is a turning point, because the table is such that two wins may well see us in the playoff places, while two defeats will see us close to the drop zone. One final thing, it was good to see the Chorley players get generous applause from the main stand on leaving the pitch, because they were far better than the scoreline suggests.

Another stat is that Kristian Dennis has now scored 3 goals in 4 full games since Kane Hemmings left, so it was good business to keep him and let Hemmings go. KH, btw, has 0 in 2 for Dundee so far.

I refuse to get too excited too, but I also refused to get too downhearted about the loss at home to Barnet or the draw at Ebbsfleet. I'll also not be getting too excited or downhearted by whatever result we get at Yeovil, which is never an easy fixture.

We are what we are. We showed today that we do have players with considerable individual ability, but many of those players were only introduced to each other about three weeks ago and haven't had the pre-season we would like, so the early part of this season was always likely to be one of ups and downs.

Confidence is a big factor and this club has been bereft of it for a long time. Today's second half should do us the power of good, not least because it shows we've got goals in us. The next two games are tough ones so I'd be happy for us either to keep our unbeaten run going with two draws, or if we lost one and won one.

This remains a gradual rebuilding process, but today's result is a nice 'high' after what seems like a year of lows.

It's interesting this, isn't it? There was a lot made about how many more chances Ebbsfleet made than us on Saturday, but, watching it, I rarely felt like they had made anything particularly clear cut. Whereas we didn't make too many chances, but those we did were very good ones - the two Thomas had in particular. So I would have said that a bit of confidence, maybe a bit of luck, we would have been good value for the three points. If Thomas had stuck away his big chance, the game was done at that point, but we end up drawing.

Today we win by four, but it sounds like you reckon we weren't worth that (not questioning, I wasn't there).

It's an odd game, football, isn't it? Let's hope they do take some confidence from it and play a bit more positively. There's wins in this team. There's also a few shockers to come as well, no doubt.... but we are Notts, after all!
