    Galloway's gone

To Leeds. I reckon this one could come back to bite us on the bum as he looked like he had something about him in pre-season. Still, the money will come in handy. - External Link

Every penny of that money will be spent on searching for a like-for-like replacement and on paying his wages? Then he will then and then every penny of that will be spent on searching for a like-for-like replacement etc.

Pressley is already in trouble caused by a lamentably feeble budget. Never mind, there's only one team going down this season.

There is no case to be made for Pressley to be regarded as a good manager. There is simply no evidence anywhere in his overall record that shows it.

But at Carlisle United he has been given the sort of budget that would hardly prevent a National League team from being relegated to National North. Thus by results it is impossible to categorise him as a bad manager.

Nigel Clibbens is wrong to claim that there is no relationship between budget and success. Nigel, like so many poor debaters, quotes the extreme cases in order to attempt a debating win. He cites Accrington Stanley and Notts County in defence of his claim that there is no relationship between budget and success.

I don’t think he’s a bad manager. I also don’t think that he’s a good one - have you seen his substitutions this season, some of which have been highly questionable?

I raise my eyebrows when our decent players go to “bigger” clubs, but that’s about it because we’ve ALWAYS been a selling club. It’s when they go to sides lower down the leagues for better salaries that I wonder how we got this low.
