Apparently we had a scout watch a youth game at Everton with a view to potential loan signings in January

Everton’s U-21 side were watched by a scout from Aberdeen on Tuesday night as the young Toffees swept aside Burton Albion in a 2-0 win in the EFL Trophy.

Club Call report that the Scottish Premiership side had a scout amongst the crowd during the game that saw the likes of Ellis Simms and Antony Evans impress for David Unsworth’s side as Everton secured passage to the next round of the EFL Trophy with a game remaining in the group stages.

Indeed, this isn’t the first time one of Everton’s star names in the youth system has been linked with a move away from Finch Farm.

Football Insider revealed last month following the closure of the European transfer window that Borussia Dortmund had a bid rejected for 18-year-old star Anthony Gordon, a player who was also amongst those to impress on Tuesday for the inquisitive Aberdeen scout.

Although it remains unknown as to whether or not the Dons will go in for some Everton youngsters in the January window, it seemingly makes sense for the Scottish side to enquire as to who will be available for Marco Silva to give the green light too to go out on loan.

Aberdeen have had a mixed start to life in the Scottish top-flight. With Celtic and Rangers, of course, starting the season off strongly, Derek McInnes’ side currently sit in fourth in the table after seven games, just two points off third place Motherwell.

Despite currently sitting in the top-four, goals have been hard to come by this season for the Dons with the Scottish Premiership table showing that Aberdeen have only managed nine goals so far this campaign, with Ross County only scoring fewer out of teams in the top-six.

With Aberdeen likely to challenge again for a Europa League spot, some young blood in the form of a few youngsters from Everton could be the deciding factor for the Scottish side in yet again qualifying for Europe.

And with the likes of Gordon, Simms and Evans not looking likely to be called into the first-team anytime soon, a loan move north of the border could be the ideal next step for the trio.

The scout was more likely to be there to check out which Burton Albion player we could waste money on.

    Good shout.
    Liam Boyce plays for them?
I'm sure we were previously linked with him and he played in the game.

P.S. Burton got beat 2-0 from the Everton U-21's

I'm hoping Ojo comes back like a new signing and there's is obviously chance he might be slightly better then before.

I think we will only get one or 2 loans in tbh

    The first team needs;

A right back. Logan is done
A right sided central defender that's reliable. Taylor is pish, Devlin has regressed & Considine is left-sided back up.
A ball carrying, pacey winger, in the mould of, but not, Jonny Hayes. McGinn is done IMO.
    A "no 10" Christie/Maddison type.

So you're happy enough with our free scoring strike force?
