Seem to have quite a bit in common with you Mick.
I’ve shipped hundreds of thousands of rackets and hockey sticks from China Al for my own brand but I mainly buy from the world leading brands through the U.K. now.

My first marital bed lasted me 18 years and this one is at 13 1/2 years so you won’t get rich off me 😆

Ha ha - don’t deal with containers now but ship individual goods for customers around the world as well as shipping and selling our own products. For example our prices from the USA are rarely beaten but we do personal shopping too which is big. One USP is customers with us can find out the exact UK import charges and taxes prior to purchase on our site and opt to pay us directly so we deal with documentation and customs so the customer does nothing so hassle free. How many customers won’t purchase overseas because they don’t know whether import charges will be £50 or £250. There’s your answer...

Brexit - our export is doing nicely and as there’s very little competition on our imported products our prices can increase due to supply and demand and luckily, we have lots of demand.

No deal is better than any deal. From a purchasing perspective, to even say we want a deal puts you on the wrong footing, as this is a sign of weakness. I do agree, though with any no deal, you should shake hands and be professional, as you never know when business will come around again.
I’ve actually been on the other side of the negotiating table Al and set up numerous national / international service contracts. The option to respectfully walk away should never be removed. This stance that many of the Commons want where no deal is removed severely hamstrings our negotiating hand and goes against the core principles of negotiation tactics. The sooner we have an election and the sooner many of these third rate MP’s get flushed down the sewer can’t come fast enough for me. I would think it’s been a long time since the Commons has been populated with a more clueless, self serving, disingenuous bunch of individuals. Hopefully the day of reckoning is not to far away

The trouble there seems to be no sign of any serious inclination to negotiate a deal with this government, which countless experts have said wont be a good thing. We're not talking about doing a deal here where we can walk away and try and deal with someone else and it wont impact the country, as in what happens with normal business practice.
This could have a effect on the normal person on the street for some years to come and we have a millionaire proven liar who we have leading the country into this.....You couldn't make it up.

Everyone lies in politics but at least Johnson has showed more balls than any PM since Thatcher. He also does not cozy up to terrorists, is antisemitism, and a prize hypocrite. Also like Swinson, he does not come across as a newly left sixth former clearly out of depth.

The normal person on the street as in the majority wants OUT, and knobs are trying to prevent this such as old dinosaurs, liberal left, and John Major the most spineless PM in our history.

The whole point is that if Boris was allowed to have a no deal option on the table, that in itself would greatly increase our leverage to negotiate a better deal or an extension to the deadline to arrive at something way better than the deal May got offered. Having no deal on the table does not mean we necessarily have to have a no deal. Sadly the bunch of charlatans currently in power have lead us to a a complete deadlock going nowhere

Ireland's EU Commissioner Phil Hogan has said there is "movement" happening on both sides of the Brexit negotiations.
Mr Hogan said if there was a return to the Northern Ireland-only backstop then any constitutional issues in terms of Northern Ireland's place within the United Kingdom that arose could be "improved upon".

He also said the North-South dimension of the Good Friday Agreement could also be used to provide further "oversight" of how a Northern Ireland-only backstop operated.Mr Hogan said if there was a return to the Northern Ireland-only backstop then any constitutional issues in terms of Northern Ireland's place within the United Kingdom that arose could be "improved upon".

"I also note that the British prime minister has moved away from his position…where he's now prepared to look at divergence of certain rules and regulations on the island of Ireland vis-a-vis the United Kingdom.
    Very interesting!!

The former Irish prime minister and joint architect of the Northern Ireland peace process Bertie Ahern has said it is imperative that any Brexit solution be acceptable to the Democratic Unionist party.

His intervention is a rare warning by a prominent politician in the Republic of Ireland that imposing a deal not supported by the DUP, such as one with a Northern-Ireland-only backstop, would imperil a lasting solution.

Ahern said the principle of “parity of esteem”, one of the core stated values of the 1998 Good Friday agreement, was not just for nationalists and anything that was not backed by both communities in Northern Ireland would be doomed to failure.

“Any solution has to include the unionist people because parity of esteem in the Good Friday agreement is both sides; to do a deal through Europe with Britain that creates a problem for the unionist community and will be rejected by the English nationalists in the Commons – that’s not really an option,” he said.

Ahern’s comments came as the DUP leader, Arlene Foster, demanded a meeting with Boris Johnson amid fears he is prepared to back a Northern-Ireland-only backstop, which her party rejected in 2017.
