Is this cover for an unexpected injury to Conelly? Seems a bit unplanned and unexpected? Starting to think was releasing Frans, Sow and Booth the best thing to do?

Although i have said a centre half should be a priority a stringent medical is required. This player was released by Exeter because he was injury prone. His manager Matt Taylor said in June"We have spoken about Troy's game return in the last few seasons and its been disappointing."

Hence the six month deal I'd assume, no real gamble and probably not on a high wage

Yes just noticed its only for 6 months initially. If we can get him match fit and he can settle up here it may well be a good deal for both parties.

Do need centre half cover - especially through to January

Seems like his knee injury has been the problem last couple seasons but if he is fit now then could be a decent player.

Actually getting to the right age for a centre half and has played plenty matches.

Connolly came from Crawley so a similar level, though Connolly had good past experience in Scotland with Killie

I wonder if Connolly is going to be out for a little longer than we’re aware of currently? If so, I suspect this is to cover that position to allow Butcher to keep playing midfield. But also having got rid of Sow, we now need one more bod up front. What the hell’s happening with this Frear deal???

Thanks, saves me the effort of actually giving him a chance if he plays. 😛
