I would be highly surprized if that judgement is allowed to stand. The PM does not prorogue parliament, the queen does. The Court is the queen's court and the judges are merely delegates of the queen, hence the royal coat off arms behind their seat. As a legal matter, the queen has pretty much absolute power over parliament. It is called by her, prorogued by her, recalled by her and dissolved by her. The fact that she only does it on the recommendation of her PM is a concession to the will of the people as expressed through her government that sits with the confidence of parliament and was mainly instituted by the desire not to get beheaded, as Charles I found out. If parliament did not want to be prorogued, it should have defeated the government on a no-confidence vote at which point the PM has two choices: ask the queen to dissolve parliament and call an election, or ask the queen to prorogue parliament to give him time to form a government that does have the confidence of parliament. Unless and until parliament expresses no confidence in the government, the PM has every right to ask to prorogue parliament and the queen has every right to grant it or refuse it. Allowing a judge to over rule the queen is also highly revolutionary because the judge has, as a legal matter, displaced her right and prerogative as the monarch and she is therefore, no longer sovereign. So who is then sovereign? The PM? The government? Parliament? The people? If this judgement stands, it is a revolution on the scale of the US and French revolutions. I find it hard to see a court as eminent as the Court of Appeal will not wish to see this precedent quickly erased regardless of their political opinions.

I see there were a good handful of Corbynites at the Brighton conference yesterday happily mingling with other members who are currently suspended from the party for racist anti Jewish comments. If the shoe was on the other foot and this was a Tory conference, I can only imagine we’d have mass demos in London from the loony lefties accusing the party of being Nazis

Totally agree Stripes! That’s why it was so hypocritical when that nomark stood up asking Johnson to apologise for his letterbox remarks.

Johnson should have reminded him:
1. To look closer to home with nasty Jewish comments.
2. Reminded the nomark that burkas we’re banned in six EU countries already!!!

Im beginning to have some doubts that Boris is gonna take us out. His refusal to form any sort of alliance with the Brexit Party means that he may not be as serious as he makes out. Brexit is bigger than party politics.
