Motherwell beat Hearts to win three in a row

Just like Hibs game score flattered our opponents. We could/should have been 2 or 3 up at half time. Thought Polworth and Gallagher were exceptional. All four**** players who played all had something to offer. Good team performance

I enjoyed that! Three stonking goals, particularly Seedorf’s, and we could/should have had a couple more. No weak links, every man playing at or near top of their game and a well deserved result. Thought Sherwin pushed his luck with the ref by the time he took to leave the pitch, especially for being booked already for taking off his shirt, but what a belter of a goal. A great win and the bonus of some late Festival street theatre in the form of the anti-Levein demo. A Grand Day Out.

Happy day! There are few better ways to end a Saturday afternoon than to salute a winning 'Well side from the Roseburn Stand.

For the last 15 minutes Hearts always looked capable of clawing their way back in & you wouldn't have thought they were down in numbers. More than just a bit relieved come final whistle.

After coming on here earlier and girning about the cost of getting to the match, I now feel that it was worth every penny!
A wee bit of shine was lost for me, though, when I saw stewards taking away broken seats from our section. Some of our fans raucously and relentlessly support our team through thick and thin, and, while some extra - parliamentary language can appear in some of the numbers, it must give the team a boost. But we need to leave the seats alone or our occupation of the moral high ground will be under threat.
    Still a great day, though!

After the unmitigated disaster that was our previous meeting with Hearts in the League Cup last month it was difficult to see where we would pick up points let alone win three in a row but unbelievably we've done that. To go to Tynecastle and win is always a massive result, regardless of how poor Hearts are, but we did that today and by the sounds of things the win could and should have been more emphatic in our favour, but we always do like to make life difficult for ourselves.

I've got to say, I love having big Declan Gallagher in our team and it was great to see him get on the scoresheet today. He seems to be enjoying his time with the club so far too, an excellent signing.

Gallagher is already like looking one of those rare transformational signings where he's not only good at doing his individual job but raises the game of others as well. That's rare at our level and is a major compliment not only to him but to the club for signing him.

Anyway, any win at tynecastle is a big triumph and much like the cup defeat wasn't really a 2-1, that wasn't really a 3-2. Robinson will no doubt be privately concerned at the sloppy goals conceded and aware our profligacy in front tof goal won't always go unpunished.

The cup loss is clearly a major dent to the season but otherwise this is becoming a very impressive start in what is looking a wide open league behind the OF. As ever, safety is the priority but at this rate we'll soon be looking for more.

Its always great to win at Tynecastle but our performance was by no means flawless. Gallagher does seem to be a very astute signing as do the two wingers, Hylton and Seedorf, who now seem to be adjusting to the pace and nature of of the game up here. We didn't half make it hard for ourselves though but thats the Motherwell way isn't it. League Cup aside, its been an impressive start to the 2019-20 campaign.
